A renovation of a minimal house designed for a married couple by architect Hatsue Yamada in 1959.
With 2 children being born later, the house was reconstructed with an extension added in 1969 to accommodate 4 people.
The 2003 renovation is for the elderly couple who live by themselves again. Following the image of the familiar space, the layout was reorganized in order to more effectively use the no longer needed space. During the new construction special attention was paid in particular not to destroy the minimal part, at the same time the facility plumbing and equipment renewal, structural reinforcement, foundation adjustment and insulation and waterproof performance improvement was carried out.
Renovating while living and following the design image, it is a renovation essential for the aging society now.
